Speculation has centred around RAF Barnham, one of several sites under government consideration as part of plans to reduce reliance on hotels for asylum accommodation.

The Home Office has proposed using the site to house up to 1,250 single adult men aged 18 to 65 who have applied for asylum in the UK, with a minimum intended use of 10 years.
