Pressure mounts on Anglian Water over compensation after outage chaos in town

A burst main on Girling Road in Dereham on May 24 left many people without running water during the first heatwave of the year.

Supplies were restored two days later, but frustrations continued, particularly over the delivery of bottled water to care homes and vulnerable people.

Mark Thurston, chief executive of Anglian Water, previously admitted failings in both delivery and communication and issued an apology.
