Family-run operator, Premier Attractions Ltd - managed by the Stokes family - acquired the theme park in Lowestoft from the French company Looping Group in October last year.

Back then the new owners revealed plans to invest in at least three rides for when the park reopened in the spring this year.

And now agents Meadows Ltd have lodged plans with East Suffolk Council for general manager, Ricky Lark, on behalf of Pleasurewood Hills.

A scheme centring around "the installation of four new amusement rides within the operational area of Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park" is "awaiting decision" with the council.

While no figure has been listed for the development, documents said the new rides form "part of a package of investment that will secure the long-term future and continued competitiveness of Pleasurewood Hills as a key visitor attraction within East Suffolk".

Documents said the proposed new rides "make effective use of previously developed areas within the park".

The Star Flyer is described as "a high-profile thrill ride reaching 30 metres in height, with The Spinning Coaster a 12m high family-friendly roller coaster.

The Big Wheel is an "observation attraction of about 36m in height, broadening the appeal of the park to visitors" with The Apple Coaster a compact children’s roller coaster of about 5m in height.

Documents added: "The proposals form part of a wider strategy to reinvigorate the park, increase visitor numbers, extend dwell time, and ensure that Pleasurewood Hills remains competitive within the regional tourism and leisure market."

East Suffolk Council is likely to make a decision in the coming weeks.
