Norfolk bakery wins three medals at major national awards
Sponge Limited, which is based in Holt, received silver and bronze medals at Britain’s Best Cake Awards organised by British Baker.
Its gluten-free red velvet cake won silver in the gluten-free category, while its chocolate piñata cake and birthday cake - a triple-layered vanilla sponge covered in colourful sprinkles - each earned bronze in the celebration cake category.

Judges sampled more than 110 cakes in total, assessing entries across nine categories in the awards third year.
The bakery also received four accolades at last year's awards for its vegan bakes.
Natalie Douglas, director at Sponge, said: "Receiving recognition for two of our celebration cakes in these prestigious industry awards is a fantastic achievement for us at Sponge.

"An integral aim at Sponge is ensuring these cakes don’t compromise on flavour, and picking up a silver medal for our red velvet cake is the industry acknowledgement we knew our gluten-free range deserved."
Sponge began in a small café, quickly gaining popularity and opening its online business in 2009.
