This year, however, only eight have been included in the shortlist, leading to frustration from the others.

One village has decided to take matters into its own hands by launching an effort to get their beach unofficially elected winner.

East Runton has been part of North Norfolk District Council's competition since it started in 2022. This year however, it has been left out.  

Mike Ashwell, a local in his 60s, designed a poster campaigning for East Runton and is encouraging........
