Ball games kicked to the kerb as council destroys town's wall after single complaint

Watton Town Council removed the structure at Lovell Gardens at a cost of £325 after concerns were raised about “disturbance and disruption”.

Parents and councillors have questioned why the wall - part-funded by developer contributions and bearing the message “everyone has the right to play” - was demolished just eight days after the decision was made.

They have also asked why no noise testing, site monitoring or alternative measures, such as netting or higher fencing, were considered before the facility was removed.

They say the loss of the so-called "kicking wall" that acts as a rebounding surface where children can play ball sports on their own is "an unnecessary blow to our community's young people".

Further criticism has been aimed at the town council after it voted in favour of the demolition and proceeded to pull it down within eight days of the........
