The Nao Victoria, a painstaking replica of the 16th‑century vessel that completed the first circumnavigation of the globe, is welcoming visitors from its berth on South Quay as part of a summer stopover in the town.

Among the first aboard on Tuesday was the borough’s mayor, Councillor Jade Martin, who said the ship’s arrival was a reminder of the town’s long and evolving relationship with the sea.
