As someone who was born too late for that original theatrical run, I never got to experience the magic in a packed cinema during its first flight. 

But the legend found me anyway — and in 2022, I finally got my chance to feel it on the big screen when Top Gun: Maverick took off.

My love for aviation stems from my dad, who passed on his passion for flying through stories, airshows, and endless conversations about jets and pilots. 

That foundation made Top Gun hit me on a deeper level. 

I’ll never forget sitting in the theater as the Top Gun Anthem swelled through the speakers, building that perfect tension before exploding into Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone.” 

By the time the anthem ended and those opening chords hit, I was already in tears.
