Trump’s Domestic Headwinds

Immediately following President Trump’s wise and courageous Operation Epic Fury attack on terrorist state Iran, objections from his usual critics have surfaced. The nearly half a century of Iranian mayhem and murder, including the death and injury of many American soldiers, are being downplayed by people seeking political advantage over patriotic necessity.

Democrats who conveniently forget that President Obama attacked Libya in 2011 without approval are demanding President Trump seek a Congressional War Powers Resolution. The forgetful authors are Representatives Ro Khanna, Democrat of California, and Thomas Massie, Republican from Kentucky, and in the Senate are Tim Kaine, Democrat from Virginia and Rand Paul, Republican from Kentucky.

Democrats like Vice President Kamala Harris and Representative Cortez have already framed their opposition in terms of “…an unnecessary war of choice.” Representative Ilhan Omar decries an “…illegal and unjustified war.” David Sanger of the New York Times penned an article, “Trump’s War of Choice.”

President Trump is a giant walking among a crowd of midgets. His “peace through strength” doctrine, coordination with ally Israel, and decisive military execution contrasts favorably with President Obama’s failed redlines and JCPOA capitulation that delivered pallets of cash to the mullahs and guaranteed a path to a nuclear bomb. Trump’s approach is vastly more muscular than the embarrassingly flaccid President Biden bugout from Afghanistan and the conditioned support of ally Israel during her multi-front war.

CBS News reports that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “Iran must never be allowed to attain a nuclear weapon but the American people do not want another endless and costly war in the Middle East when there are so many problems at home.” The reporting continues with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries who said in a statement about Mr. Trump that he “failed to seek Congressional authorization prior to striking Iran,” and said his “decision to abandon diplomacy and launch a massive military attack has left American troops vulnerable to Iran’s retaliatory actions.”

Let’s be clear what’s at stake with a nuclear Iran. On 9/11, roughly ten thousand gallons of aviation fuel, erupting into a black and red fireball, brought down both World Trade Center towers. Three thousand were killed. If instead that fireball had been a blinding nuclear flash, lower Manhattan would disappear. Tel Aviv, too, would disappear. Three million plus would be killed.

Setting back Iran’s nuclear weapons program by only a few months or years is not sufficient. Someone revealed civilization’s vulnerability …there is no high ground in the nuclear age. Wasn’t it the Democrats who questioned President Trump’s “obliterated” assessment of the B-2 bomber damage to critical sites Fordow and Natanz during the Twelve Day War. Iranian malign linkages to Russia, China and North Korea also requires absolute elimination of nuclear, drone and rocket capacity.

Just last week Gallop reported that for the first time more Americans sympathize with the Palestinians than Israel. The shift is driven by the attitudes of the Democrats and Independents. The media and academia bias are the likely source of the pressure. At the same time Far Right pundits like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Megan Kelly encourage anti-Israel conspiracy theories. President Trump must remain clear eyed in his support for Israel and determined to de-fang Iran despite the noise from the antisemites and isolationists.

By midday on Saturday, February 28, Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei and many other IRGC regime seniors were reported eliminated by a combined American and Israeli military strikes. President Trump, besides initiating the offense, called once again for the Iranian people to take back their country. Prime Minister Netanyahu has directed his forces to control the air over Iran.

With President Trump’s bold initiative Iran’s rogue government will fall, and the threats of death to America and Israel will cease. Iran’s obsession to possess nuclear weapons and ICBM delivery systems will be terminated and a pathway to enduring peace will be found.

The advice that British Prime Minister “Iron Lady” Margeret Thatcher gave to then President George Bush remains sage. As he pondered what to do with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein after his invasion of Kuwait, she counseled, “Remember George, this is no time to go wobbly.”

President Trump is made of stern stuff, and he will stay the principled course.
