It’s Yom Kippur eve-a threshold of deep reflection, quiet introspection, and collective atonement. It is the one time a year when Jews are called to audit our souls and dive into Cheshbon Nefesh- acknowledging our human flaws and extending forgiveness, not just in the abstract, but in the messiness of concrete real life.

I don’t know how much Ed Sheeran knows about Yom Kippur, if anything at all. But attending his concert just a day before our holiest day struck a poignant chord and made me reflect upon its timing.

If you aren’t familiar with the story, the past few weeks were complex for Ed, to say the least. After his opening act was kicked out of the tour following controversial political statements, the backlash directed at Ed was instant and overwhelming. The digital influencers and faceless mob leaders demanded total accountability… musicians banned him, followers abandoned him, and thousands called for his entire tour to be canceled.

For the longest time now, I’ve noticed we live across two very polarizing worlds:
