Questions and answers with the ‘Car Doc’
Q. My wife is looking for a new car and is considering the Genesis GV70. Do you have any thoughts on the vehicle?
A. I really have a hard time finding fault with the Genesis GV70. It is stylish both inside and out, offers a premium interior, and delivers a combination of comfort and athletic handling that rivals many established luxury brands. Both available engines provide strong performance. The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes about 300 horsepower, which is more than adequate for most drivers, while the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 produces 375 horsepower and turns the GV70 into a genuine performance SUV. The GV70 has also earned top marks in crash testing and comes with one of the best warranties in the luxury market. I especially like that Genesis has managed to make the vehicle feel upscale without some of the complexity and high ownership costs often associated with European luxury brands. To me, the GV70 is one of the best values in the luxury SUV category. It is comfortable, well-equipped, enjoyable to drive, and backed by an excellent warranty. If your wife likes the way it looks and feels on a test drive, I think it is a very good choice.
Q. I have a 2018 Subaru Outback that I bought new. I commuted by train when working and now drive very little in retirement. As a result, the car has only a little over 25,000 miles. I’ve generally taken it to the dealer once........
