Oversight Democrat on meeting with Comer, Bondi: ‘We all just f‑‑‑ing had it’

Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) slammed a meeting the House Oversight Committee had with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche regarding the Epstein files on Wednesday, which also upset other Democrats.

Ansari, in a video posted to the social platform X on Wednesday night, described her experience in the meeting, saying she and her colleagues pressed Bondi on whether she would testify under oath after being subpoenaed, but the attorney general “would not answer the question.”

She said in the video that Rep. Summer Lee (D-Pa.) asked committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.), “‘Chairman Comer, are you going to ensure that Attorney General Pam Bondi comes forward, and if she doesn’t, what actions are you willing to take?’

“He decided to use that opportunity to say that [Lee] was ‘bitching,’ and that’s when we all just f—ing had it and walked out,” she added.

On Tuesday, the Oversight Committee formally subpoenaed Bondi to answer questions about the Epstein files. Earlier in March, the committee voted to subpoena the attorney general after a motion from Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who said it was not clear if the Justice Department had handed over all records related to Epstein required under a law enforcing their release.

Bondi’s Wednesday meeting did not land well with other Democrats, with Oversight ranking member Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) calling it a “fake hearing” and Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) saying the meeting was put together for Bondi “to evade her subpoena.”

But Comer went after his Democratic colleagues over the meeting, accusing them of “clutching their pearls.”

“They came out, clutching their pearls, complaining that she wasn’t answering any questions and things like that. The first three people to ask questions, all they did was complain. All they did was complain, they didn’t ask any questions,” he said.
