Trump cutting women out of admin roles amid attacks on female journalists 

Over the past few weeks alone, we’ve seen President Trump tell CNN’s Kaitlan Collins to smile. We’ve seen him walk out of an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker after she pressed him for evidence to support claims he was making, calling her “crooked” in the process. And remember when he said “quiet, piggy” during an exchange with a woman reporter aboard Air Force One. These are all recent incidents.  

Now, to be fair, Trump has a reputation for being combative with lots of people. Men get insulted, too. Political opponents get attacked. Reporters of all kinds get targeted. But it’s hard to ignore that some of his most personal insults, especially regarding appearance, seem reserved for women.  

And while it’s easy to dismiss these moments as simply Trump’s personality, the bigger question for me is whether the attitude extends beyond rhetoric and into the way this administration governs.
