Sprawling Bay Area food hall with Michelin cred is hidden in an office building

A new food hall with Michelin cred has arrived on a biotech campus in South San Francisco — and you don’t have to be an employee to visit. At Omakase World Market, on the Gateway of Pacific campus — a sprawling laboratory and office space that’s home to companies including Moderna and AbbVie — you’ll find everything from housemade pasta to sashimi.

The Omakase Restaurant Group, the team behind popular local chain Dumpling Time and San Francisco’s Michelin-starred Niku Steakhouse, created the food hall in partnership with building owner BioMed Realty to motivate employees to return to the office, but it’s open to the public as well.

“The idea behind it is, how do you make people come back to the office to work, as well as how do you sign leases for the landlord,” said Omakase World Market General Manager Geoffroy Raby.
