General Mills is naming its COO as CEO, its first woman to hold the role

Dana McNabb, who has spent 27 years at the company, will take over on Jan. 1, 2027, as General Mills works to return to profitable growth

General Mills $GIS named Chief Operating Officer Dana McNabb as its next chief executive officer on Wednesday, making her the first woman to lead the Minneapolis company in its 160-year history. She will succeed Jeff Harmening, who has served as CEO since June 2017, effective Jan. 1, 2027.

Harmening will transition to executive chair of the board of directors on that same date, the company said. The board voted to approve both appointments.
