We often build fragile happiness that collapses easily, much like a pop-up tent in a desert storm.

Even when tragedies burn through our lives, a strong internal foundation allows us to rebuild.

True resilience requires laying a deep, unseen foundation through daily habits of quiet mindfulness.

Have you ever had a fantastic week—or even just a really great day—where everything seemed to be going perfectly?

Then, suddenly, something minor happens. You receive a rude comment from a coworker, or you get a flat tire on the way home. In an instant, your great mood rapidly morphs into frustration and anger. Sometimes this dark cloud lingers not just for a few minutes, but for days.

Most of us can easily recall a time when this has happened. But why does it happen? How can our entire emotional state be completely derailed by a single, fleeting event?

The Pop-Up Tent vs. the Cathedral

To understand this, we have to look at how we structure our minds.

When I was younger, I did a lot of backpacking. When you backpack, you sleep in a pop-up tent. While a tent offers some shelter, it does not guarantee your safety against the elements.
