Men Cry for This One Reason

Men cry between 5 and 17 times a year on average versus between 30 and 64 times a year for women.

Crying has less to do with sex differences and more to do with social norms.

Men accepting of feminine norms cried more often and were more likely to view crying as beneficial.

In a country where masculinity is prized, it’s rare to see a man cry. I remember my dad crying only once during my childhood. On television, for instance, alpha male Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) broke down in tears only twice during the entire run of "Mad Men"—once when his closest confidante Anna Draper died of cancer and once in group therapy when he realized how destructive he was to those who loved him.

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) cites research that men cry between 5 and 17 times a year on average compared with between 30 and 64 times a year for women. Honestly, these numbers seem a bit high to me, but this gives you an idea that men cry infrequently—except for in one specific........
