Ambience Is a Key to the Perfect Shopping Experience
Creating ambience may not be easy.
But if you get it right it is possible to create positive perceptions through sensory input.
Increasingly, younger audiences have a preference for shops with ambience.
A recent survey of over 2000 people in three European countries found that creating the ‘right’ shopping environment can change how people behave whilst in-store and how much they spend. And it appears that some of the factors affecting our behaviours are clearly linked to our sensory systems, guiding our perception.
COVID-19 saw many consumers turn to independent shops, and many shoppers still prefer them to big brand shops. In fact, 75 percent of those surveyed in France, 80 percent in Britain, and 86 percent in Germany said that independent shops beat big chains on ambience. Apparently size matters.
