Northminster United Church, 300 Sunset Blvd., is hosting a community open house Tuesday, May 26 from 7 until 9 p.m., to explore the future of the church and its role in the wider community. Everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

The purpose of the open house is to listen and learn about the needs of the community; not just spiritual needs, but also the bigger needs for connection, belonging and purpose.

“The need for connection, belonging and purpose has never been greater. Across our society, many people are experiencing disconnection, uncertainty, and anxiety — shaped by personal challenges as well as domestic and global events that can feel overwhelming. While participation in traditional religious institutions has declined, the desire for meaning, inner peace, and authentic community remains strong,” reads a release for the event.

This open house builds on a series of consultations that began earlier this spring and will explore questions such as:

What does community mean today?

How can we create spaces where people feel they belong?
