Oilers European free agent targets: Could KHL’s Vitaly Pinchuk be the Oilers middle-six scoring answer?

Would a 6-foot-3, 203-pound skilled centre catch your attention?

The Edmonton Oilers have already dipped into the European market this season, signing Czech defenceman Tomáš Cibulka. Who’s to say they won’t go back to that well and target a highly skilled centre out of the KHL? With a core offensive unit already in place, the Oilers could offer the perfect insulating environment for a skilled pivot looking to find his footing in the NHL environment.

Vitaly Pinchuk, a Belarusian-born centre out of the KHL, isn’t unfamiliar with the North American game. He spent the 2019–20 season with the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) as a draft-eligible, recording 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) in 54 games before the pandemic disrupted his path. He returned home to continue his development and has steadily improved his game since, ranking among the more highly touted undrafted free agents on the market.
