Founded on Christian values, not identity
Westbury, L.I.: To Voicer Tom Scott: No, billionaires didn’t exist then. Millionaires maybe, yes. The Founding Fathers were a bit removed from the working class, as evidenced by their education, military experience and status in their respective future states they represented.
The First Amendment was written by Christian men with honor, integrity and understanding who unanimously established the separation of church and state, which was supported by President George Washington. It’s not based on anyone’s religion, but without consequence of one’s religion. What’s so hard to comprehend? As the Taliban distorted Islam, we now have Christians distorting what it means to be Christian and trying to dictate what the rest of us should follow — or else. They sound similar in their ideologies. Women are less than men, non-believers are the enemy, etc. I don’t care that you follow your god, so why do you care what god the rest of us follow, or if we don’t?
No god in any religion across the planet has ever said to treat the poor like cattle. The 1% has convinced 99% of this country that the people around them are the enemy. It sounds like they want the poor to beat up the poor instead of them, who are responsible for the trickle-down theory where the 99% are waiting for the crumbs.
Brooklyn: As we near the 82nd anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, I can’t help but think about the condition of our democracy. While we haven’t yet reached the depth of tyranny that necessitated that perilous but vital military action in June 1944, we’re fast........
