It was 14 years ago, right before Halloween, when Superstorm Sandy slammed New York, causing billions in damage and it was FEMA that brought the needed aid and assistance, yet Donald Trump’s FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton has been hinting of no longer providing states with disaster relief funding, deprive states and localities of the tens of billions of dollars often needed to rebuild after even routine storms and other disasters.

Just three days ago, Gov. Hochul asked Washington to approve a federal disaster declaration related to last month’s nor’easter which hit Long Island, causing widespread destruction. Who knows if the feds will agree.

Remember, this is the FEDERAL Emergency Management Administration, whose entire purpose is to provide funding and administrative support to states during and after some of their most difficult periods.
