The accident took place on Wednesday morning near Urda, in the Toledo province of central Spain, on the railway line connecting Madrid with Seville.
The collision involved a train operated by state-owned railway company Renfe and another operated by private rail operator Iryo. The two trains were travelling in the same direction when the Renfe train struck the rear of the stationary Iryo train, causing carriages to derail.
