Russia, Germany hold first talks since 2022 at UN; Berlin presses Moscow on Ukraine, Black Sea grain
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, marking their first talks since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
New Delhi: Russia and Germany’s foreign ministers held their first direct talks since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul discussed bilateral relations and the war in Ukraine. The meeting came amid renewed diplomatic efforts to restore Black Sea grain and energy exports, as well as continuing tensions between Moscow and Berlin.
