West Bengal assembly dissolved as term ends, Mamata no longer chief minister
West Bengal Governor RN Ravi on Thursday dissolved the state assembly after the completion of its term, officially ending the tenure of the Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee.
New Delhi: The West Bengal Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Thursday after the term of the Trinamool Congress government officially came to an end on May 7. Governor RN Ravi issued the dissolution order under Article 174(2)(b) of the Constitution.
According to an official statement issued by the Lok Bhavan, the order came into force with immediate effect in line with constitutional provisions. The TMC government led by Mamata Banerjee had returned to power in 2021.
