I’ve been writing about climate change for over 20 years. In that time, I’ve watched the issue rise and fall on the public radar — it spiked in the late-2000’s after Al Gore released the film, An Inconvenient Truth, then disappeared when Donald Trump won his first US presidency; came back when wildfires smoked out North America’s great cities and young activist Greta Thunberg shot to global fame; then came the pandemic, and Trump 2.0, and here we are again, apparently with other things to worry about.

One thing that hasn’t gone down over the past two decades? Global temperatures. Or the concentration of atmospheric CO2. Or the amount of fossil fuel the world burns. Or the amount Canada produces … all right, that’s four things, but it’s all a bit crazy-making.

Keeping these uncomfortable........
