Britain is in a global conflict with Russia and China, whether we admit it or not

Ten years ago, Belarus launched its one and only communications satellite. It was made by China, sent into the skies from a spaceport in Sichuan province, and it now sends back streams of data to a control centre in Minsk. Ukrainian intelligence believes this system, plugged into Beijing’s fast-expanding satellite network, plays a key role helping Russia with timing, targeting and assessment of its missile strikes.

These barrages rain down on their cities with increasing bloodshed after the White House slashed air defence supplies. On Friday night, another 35 missiles and 185 drones hit Kyiv, the second such attack in 48 hours. It resulted in nine more civilian deaths.

Earlier that day, a drone factory in Kyiv owned by a US-based firm was destroyed in the first known Russian strike on an American defence company. The previous day, a cruise missile crashed in Poland, a Nato nation, highlighting the potentially-explosive dangers of this war. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky claims North Korea is preparing to send another 30,000 troops to the frontline carving across his country, along with more missile launchers. “This is a threat not only to Ukraine. Russia is helping North Korea learn how to wage war, improve its weapons, and gain real combat experience in using them,” he warned.

These events show how this conflict scarring Europe is a global struggle between dictatorship and democracy – and how China plays an active role in the fight against freedom. North Korea is a client state that would never have started sending troops two years ago without its consent.........
