Google’s Strategy With Its New Laptop Follows a Playbook Apple Wrote 12 Years Ago
The Googlebook is designed to work best with an Android phone. Where does that leave iPhone users?

According to Google, the first thing one of its new Googlebook laptops does is ask for your phone. Signing in pulls across your Android phone’s settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages. Google says apps you were using on the phone will then appear in the laptop’s taskbar, ready to pick up where you left off. Your phone’s files and photos will show up in the laptop’s Files app, and phone apps can be streamed into a window on the desktop so you can grab a one-time passcode, for example.
Google first teased the Googlebook in May, and pre-orders opened on September 21. There’s no Google-made model, since Google hasn’t built a laptop of its own since it canceled the next Pixelbook and dissolved the team behind it in 2022. Acer, Asus, Dell, HP,........
