What happens if Trump uses independence to set his sights on Scotland?

Rumblings are beginning around the possibility of Scotland being targeted by Donald Trump for takeover, annexation, domination – call it what you will – in the event of independence.
The first reaction to such a notion is, understandably, to deem it utterly absurd. Yet look at the world in which we now live.
Just days ago, it would have been laughable to imagine America invading Venezuela, kidnapping its president, spiriting him back to the USA and parading him in chains.
Quite frankly, the world is going up in flames and anything can happen. Nothing should be off-limits when it comes to war-gaming the future. Indeed, to fail to do so could be considered negligent.
So let's park the instinct to laugh at the premise of Trump turning his sights on Scotland, and consider the evidence.
I should make clear that, as a vocal, if moderate, supporter of Scottish independence, just raising this issue gives me shivers, but nobody should put on blinkers in this climate.
Nor am I alone in pondering such a possibility. Richard Murphy, the economist who writes for The Herald’s pro-independence sister paper The National, this week wrote a blog entitled ‘Is Scotland on Trump’s list?’
Similarly, the Guardian’s Zoe Williams asked in her column: ‘If Donald Trump thinks Greenland should be his, how long before he sets his sights on........
