India’s satirically-titled Cockroach Janata (People’s) Party (CJP) campaign, a youth movement demanding transparency and accountability, forced Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign on July 25.

This ministerial resignation is the Asian Gen Z movements’ latest blow against government corruption and repressive far-right politics.

Modi and the BJP are the leading force for the far right in Asia and, perhaps worldwide, the most closely allied to fascist organising.

The BJP is part of the Hindutva (Hindu chauvinist) Sangh Parivar group of organisations, formed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh paramilitary movement. These organisations use mob violence alongside the power and wealth of their members in the upper reaches of the country’s hierarchy.
