It is 30 C in Edmonton as I write this Saturday, which means somewhere a Fahrenheit-loving American could be nodding along, thinking that sounds pretty frigid, while every Edmontonian who survived February is quietly sweating through their good golf shirt.

So today, I am going to cool you off the only way an Edmonton columnist knows how: by dragging you back through some of the coldest days this city has ever endured.

This is going to hurt so good. Or, not.

Climate, change already.

Let’s start with Nov. 22, 2003, the day the NHL decided Edmonton needed to host the very first Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium, as though the league looked at our winters and said, “Not enough suffering here. Let’s add a scoreboard.”

The alumni game was played in a wind chill near -30, and by the time the Oilers and Canadiens dropped........
