The town waging war on 'woke' as locals step up hunt for elusive mystery vandal
This doesn’t mean they have been debating highly contested, hot-button issues like trans rights and immigration.
Rather, they have been attempting to track down and unmask the mystery vandal who has been spray-painting the word around their town.
Since around April, the tag 'woke' has appeared more than 100 times on walls, road signs, and bus shelters.

Locals have formed a group to remove the word, but overnight it reappears.
Others have started trawling CCTV hoping to catch him - or her - in the act.
The closest they have got so far, though, is a grainy figure recorded near the scene of one of the tags in footage which has been passed to the police.
Officers are also on the trail and have reportedly visited a local school and checked pupils' exercise books to see if they can find a match to the writing.

Locals have dubbed the mystery vandal ‘Wokesy’, after street artist Banksy, and they are bemused why the word 'woke' has been used.
The term has been imported from the US and is now helping to fuel the UK’s own culture wars.
It is used to indicate an interest in social justice and is used as a badge of honour by some and a term of abuse by their opponents.
