Farmers urged to put safety first as sector has poorest safety record
Will Sargent, National Farmers' Union (NFU) Norfolk vice chair, who farms near Long Stratton, said Farm Safety Week is a vital reminder for every farmer to revisit how they approach risk.
Mr Sargent said: "Behind these figures is real life heartache suffered by families of farmers who did not make it home from work following a fatal accident on a farm.
"In addition, many farmers have suffered serious and lifechanging injuries.
"Farming can be a dangerous job, with long hours, working with machinery and animals and often lone working.
