Bold plans to tear down seafront venue could be lodged by end of year
Architects at Fielden and Mowson have said that formal plans for the demolition and rebuild of The Ocean Room in Gorleston could be officially lodged in December or January 2027.
It comes after the venue was sold by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to Ocean Pavilion Ltd, a subsidiary of King's Lynn-based Bespoke Construction Group, for £500,000 in September.

The company’s early plans for the site include a wellness centre, spa, short-term accommodation, bars and restaurants, and children’s play areas, with the existing building set to be demolished because of its deteriorating condition.
The venue closed in March 2024 when its tenants entered administration and has stood empty ever since.
Over more than eight decades, the venue hosted everything from dinner dances and boxing events to nightclub evenings and live music performances and bingo.

The new owners said they wanted to create "an exciting new facility" that could be enjoyed throughout the year while generating up to 50 jobs.
A public consultation has now been held at Gorleston Pavilion Theatre with dozens of people turning up to view the initial plans........
