Karl Hutchings, 48, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court this morning for the murder of 55-year-old Julie Buckley, whose remains were found in 10 pieces in a shallow grave in the Cambridgeshire village of Wimblington.

Sentencing Hutchings to a minimum of 19 years and 254 days, Judge Mark Bishop said: "You deprived her of any dignity in death by dismembering her body into 10 pieces."

Judge Bishop added that Hutchings wrote a letter to him claiming he didn't mean to kill Julie Buckley and that he showed police the location of the body because he thinks it is important for the family to know where she was laid to rest.

However, Judge Bishop didn't accept this because he kept the location a secret for nine months.
