Neighbours at The Oaks in Postwick say they have no safe direct crossing over Poppy Way to reach nearby shops and businesses - and fear the route will become more dangerous as development continues.

The road, which connects to the NDR, runs between the site - which is being developed by Allison Homes - and the Broadland Gate business park, where there is a Lidl, McDonald's, Burger King and a new Costco under construction.

And if the estate residents want to visit the industrial site, they are forced to add an extra five minutes of walking to their journey by making their way to a dropped kerb at the roundabout on Edwards Road.

They then repeat this on Poppy Way before walking to the end of Broadland Gate about 1,000ft away, where the nearest crossing is located.

As more homes continue to be built at the estate, neighbours fear the roads will only get busier and more dangerous.

Now they have questioned why the housing scheme went ahead without a crossing - which could cost £650,000 - in the first place.
