'The honeymoon is over...' Cracks emerge between Norfolk parties amid planning row

The honeymoon period between the two parties is on the rocks due to a disagreement over proposals to construct 446 homes at the edge of Hopton.

Great Yarmouth First (GYF) – an offshoot of Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain – has been vehemently opposed to the scheme, intended for county council-owned farmland off Links Road.

The party has been trying to convince the current Reform administration to reverse the bid made by its own housing company, Repton Property Developments, since it was approved by Great Yarmouth Borough Council in May.

But a row has unfolded after Mr Lowe, MP for Great Yarmouth, accused Reform of “not budging” on plans to “cement” over vital agricultural land.

“I had hoped for more from Reform in Norfolk,” said Mr Lowe in a post on Facebook.

“We have tried and tried to resolve this behind the scenes, but we have had no luck."
