Torquay United documentary is a five star account of epic recovery

Every Wednesday in the Herald Express, our Torquay United correspondent Richard Hughes takes a sideways look at what's going on in the world of the Gulls. This week, he talks the Torquay United documentary Taking Flight

You don’t need to remind Torquay United fans of the pain and misery of last season – but the club has done just that with the release of the first episode of their own documentary, Taking Flight, which was launched on YouTube on Monday.

The 24-minute long episode follows on from the turmoil at the club last year when former owner Clarke Osborne put it up for sale, a move which led to manager Gary Johnson leaving, and Torquay being deducted 10 points and having to fight a relegation battle to avoid the drop into the Southern League.

The episode begins with a montage of images and voices laying the situation last year bare – but then moves swiftly into the new era, with the announcement that the Bryn Consortium had taken control.

It tells the now famous story of how Michael Westcott met Neil........
