Movies are so back. 2026 has been Hollywood’s best year at the box office since the pandemic. And it’s all thanks to the Trumps!

No, not because Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey is a three-hour critique of how Donald Trump’s xenophobia is plunging us into a dark age of conflict and illiteracy. During a speech in Nevada on Wednesday night, the president bragged that First Lady Melania Trump actually had the top film of the year.

“She did a movie — I think it was the No. 1 movie of the year. Can you believe it?”

Well, no. Unless Melania quietly did some stuntwork for Tom Holland, she was not in the top-earning movie of 2026, Spider-Man: Brand-New Day. That film has grossed $1.155 billion worldwide in its first week, breaking various box-office records. During its entire theatrical run, the First Lady’s documentary made just under $17 million worldwide, far below the $75 million Amazon MGM Studios reportedly paid for the film........
