Readers slam 'disgraceful' move as schoolgirl put in isolation over Union Flag dress
A Year 7 student was left "embarrassed" after she was removed from class for wearing an "unacceptable" Union Flag dress for her school's culture day - but Coventry Live readers in our comments sections have given her their full backing after the school apologised for the incident.
12-year-old Courtney Wright, from Coventry, had prepared a speech on British history and customs for the school culture day, and wore a Spice Girls-inspired dress emblazoned with the Union Flag. In the run-up to Culture Celebration Day at Bilton School in Rugby, Warwickshire, a letter sent home to parents described the event as "designed to promote inclusion, understanding, and appreciation of different backgrounds, traditions and heritages".
