Many moons ago when I was just a little girl in a Halifax, Nova Scotia Orphanage, I kept hoping that someone would come along to adopt me.

Not realizing in the first year that I was there, that it was the best place I could possibly be, loneliness swept in to assail me.

At nine years of age, my imagination had me searching for a fairy tale-like godmother.

My imaginary dreams came true when a young woman named Carolyn, daughter of the Walter Callou Bus Company family, came to visit me to take me out for afternoon outings.

Carolyn was young, and oh-so-beautiful, just as I imagined what a fairy tale-like godmother should look like. She took me to many happy places on our afternoon outings and sometimes brought me gifts. I remember a red and white knitted angora head........
