Brookman: Calgary always comes together to show off for Stampede visitors
Listening to the mayor, councillors and music tent owners, I could hear my mother’s words — “Nothing good happens after midnight.”
I didn’t always agree, and I don’t totally agree with the latest rules, but it does appear that a reasonable compromise has been reached. Weekends allow for a 3 a.m. party time, but weeknights are probably more civilized with a 12:30 a.m. closure.
It seems the entire controversy centres on the new Cowboys Park, which changed from Millennium Park as if by magic. Our previous city council seemed to like making changes happen quietly, so let’s cheer the current council for at least discussing all of this out in the open.
