Ford: Raising speed limit ignores safety and stats to pander to political base
A recipe for disaster or death: Increase speed limits on some divided Alberta highways; cancel speed cameras and photo radar; install phone holders on dashboards and — most importantly — give permission for guys in monster trucks to flaunt their ride.
It is only the last two “ingredients” for which the Alberta government is not responsible. Yet, the provincial government knows the reality of all this but is silent about it.
Case in point: the acknowledged most dangerous road in Alberta is Highway 63 from Edmonton to Fort McMurray, possibly the headquarters for guys with enough money to buy the biggest, most tricked-out monster trucks. Need anyone say more?
