Extortion targeting members of Winnipeg’s Punjabi business community is a serious issue. Any business owner who feels threatened because of their success, their background or their immigration status deserves protection. On that point, there should be no debate.

The Manitoba government recently announced $100,000 for the Punjabi Chamber of Commerce to expand outreach, connect businesses with police and help establish a helpline for victims and witnesses.
