Pierre Poilievre sailed through his leadership review Friday evening winning an 87.4 per cent endorsement from delegates to the Conservative Party of Canada convention in Calgary.

But that was hardly a surprise, nor was it the most significant number of the Conservative leader’s week.
Oh, sure, listening to or reading most mainline commentators, you can be forgiven for thinking Poilievre’s leadership was genuinely in jeopardy. It never was.
Reports that Poilievre might not garner enough votes to continue as chief Conservative were just wishful thinking.
Most journalists dislike the Opposition leader. He threatens their beloved Mark Carney, to whom many have an almost cultish devotion. Because they want Poilievre gone, they have convinced themselves “most” people want him out.
Such reporters need to broaden their social circles beyond their urban condo complexes and craft coffee bars.
That Poilievre was truly, widely popular in his own party, even after losing last April’s federal election, was close to a foregone........
