New Delhi: Bulldozers were sent by the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP-led) government in West Bengal to demolish a five-storey building being used as office by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour on Saturday (July 18), reported The Telegraph.

Earlier on June 30, notices were issued on behalf of the South 24-Parganas Municipal Corporation to the owners of the building, that included Abhishek Banerjee’s father Amit Banerjee, with a hearing scheduled on July 15.

The local administration maintained that since the owners didn’t appear for the hearing, they had to resort to the demolition........
