It’s like suspended animation. The war is mostly over. Israel defeated Iran and its proxies. The last living hostages are out of Gaza. An international force is poised to enter Gaza, but Hamas won’t disarm and the international force seems reluctant to disarm them. So the force might stay in the part of Gaza where Israeli soldiers are, and the international powers might resign themselves to rebuild only there, and not in the Hamas-controlled part of Gaza.

Israel might decide to go in and disarm Hamas.

Trump’s deal mentions a credible pathway to a Palestinian state, but Israel rejects that.

It’s a deal that was signed by some world leaders, and ratified by........
