‘The miser pays twice’ – as seen in Iran war
It’s time to stop miser-ing our way in the Iran war.
Every time we stopped ourselves short, in the name of paying less, we end up having to do it all over again and pay more. Every time we stopped short in the name of being peace-loving, we ended up with more war and more deaths instead.
The same thing happened in the Gaza war. Biden stopped Israel time after time, in the name of peace prospects. Each time it gave Hamas the space to regroup and dig itself in, and many more lives were lost.
Biden did the same thing to Lebanon, in his last bad deed, committed in collaboration with Witkoff.
We did it again when we called an end to the 12 day war. If we had let Israel continue that war, it might have brought down the regime. Momentum counts for a lot in politics and war, and the Iranian regime was very much on the wrong foot – off guard and off balance. We gave that up. We let it restabilize itself, re-entrench its authority, and massacre its opponents by the tens of thousands.
And then we had to pay for doing it all over again. And pay far more the second time around, because Iran was already prepared this time for doing us more damage.
Today We Must Finish the Job and Install a New Regime
We are now in a major war against this revived Iranian regime. One where we might finally carry through. But might still stop short, in deference to all the absurd rhetoric this Administration, like Biden’s and Obama’s, has boxed itself in with.
If we stop short again, then the threat the next time around will be still worse for us – truly existential in its scale.
President Trump was right in saying that. A renewed Islamist regime will bring far more terrible devastation on us in the future with its missiles, its drones, and its probable nuclear weapons.
Trump must draw the right conclusion: this time, the regime must be changed for real. The Islamic Republic of Iran must be brought to an end.
Cato won two thousand years of fame, and a sense of grandeur and glory, for saying Carthage must be destroyed. Carthago delenda est.
Today the Islamist regime in Iran delenda est. It is America’s and the region’s only path to real security. And it is Trump’s path back to glory, in the heart today of the American and Iranian people and in the minds of intelligent people worldwide for decades to come.
