The turmoil in the Middle East triggered by the Iran war sent shockwaves through global energy markets, with oil prices reaching unprecedented levels. Pakistan, heavily reliant on imported oil, found itself directly exposed to the crisis, facing rising fuel costs that threatened both economic stability and the daily lives of ordinary citizens.

Amid this challenging backdrop, the Government of Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, made a difficult but necessary decision, adjusting domestic fuel prices to reflect the global reality. While such measures are often politically sensitive, they were essential to prevent larger imbalances in the economy. Fuel subsidies that had previously cushioned the public from market fluctuations were becoming unsustainable, and a price adjustment was inevitable.
