Amit, 21, a computer science student from Mumbai, was clear that he wanted to do a Master’s in cybersecurity. After weighing up dozens of options, he settled on a university in Canada. 

The university mandated a four-year undergraduate degree for admission. Amit only had a three-year Bachelor’s in computer applications. No problem, he thought. He had already found a workaround: a Canadian college was offering a one-year cybersecurity certificate course with enough credits to make up his eligibility........
